Swiss producer and multi instrumentalist Andre Polar returns with ‘Raumzeit’ his first release of 2022. The track is simultaneously stark and expansive, calling to mind images of a the last rays of sunset seen across a subdued winter landscape. As with his celebrated 2019 EP ‘Aurora,’ both Polar’s extensive musicianship and deft arranging abilities are on full display on ‘Raumzeit.’

The track begins with somber chords and an evocative melody played softly on a felt-dampened piano. Simple yet hypnotic drums establish the song’s foundation and are soon followed by swirling yet subtle synths adding detail to the unfolding musical tapestry. Next, a gritty synth bass arrives and listeners find themselves ensconced in Andre Polar’s harmonic universe.

The minimalist arrangement is punctuated with evolving textures, rich synthesizers, and subtle rhythmic developments, all resulting in a track that is rolling and trance-inducing and yet endlessly interesting to the ear.

Since his debut in 2019, Polar has been steadily creating his own musical landscape, a place rich in color though delicate and meditative, a place to which listeners are warmly welcomed and in no hurry to leave. “The concept of the space time continuum, and time in general, as it relates to music, human history and individual life was rolling around in my head a lot recently,” says Polar. “I’m not sure that ‘Raumzeit’ is about any of this specifically, but it is, if nothing else, my homage to all the other points, intersecting and diverging out there as they travel through life.” ‘Raumzeit,’ and an EP of the same name will be available on April 22 on all platforms.
